Just a little fyi...
Did you know that if your recently two year old toddler stands up on and jumps off of you 30-35inch high couch, and kicks her feet up so she lands square on her rump, that she is still probably ok. At that age, your toddler's tailbone is most likely mostly cartiledge and because of that, won't break the same a bone would and is actually very durable. Hmmm...the more you know.
p.s. yes, kenzie flat-out jumped off the couch. In plain site and on purpose landed on her pooper. Poor thing got the wind knocked out of her and had a hard time skipping and hopping for the rest of the day. She's a-ok now but still living life on the edge.

coming soon UPDATED
very soon as in the next 12-16 hrs soon...
Operation
Eat Mor Chikin
UPDATE: Yeah, by the next 12-16 hrs I really meant the next five days...but I digress. We had a Chick Fil A open up shop near us recently and thru the grapevine (ie. the radio) we heard that the first one hundred customers on the first day would be getting free Chik Fil A for a year. As good as that sounds it's a bit misleading. IT's actually 52 free chicken sandwhich combo meals. 52 free meals take once a week spans the whole year, hence the "free chik fil a for a whole year!" mentality everyone had.
Too make a long story short, we drove by this Chik Fil A the day before around 830-ish to see if anyone was lining up. At that time, there were about 30-35 people in line. We thought we were good until at least 12 or 1 in the am. So 12 or 1 in the am rolls around and we thought about it for a minute..."you know, i think we'll be ok until 3-330...". So we went back to sleep and we both (Cort and I) got back up at 3, made sure the kids were taken care of (and someone was able to watch over them) and gathered up some blankets and chairs and headed on out.
One pair of socks did not do the job, my toes were NUMB by 430. The Chik Fil A opened at 630 so had a long way to go. When we got there, the line didn't seem too long. We thought we were easliy in the 80-100 range. Well, after waiting for an hour or so, we got word that we're supposed to register inside. How nice of them to tell us after we'd been waiting an hour, so kind! I go in and register first since you had to have a photo id to do so (not sure why) and Cort didn't have hers. I get in and in registering, I find out that i'm 112. Ouch. We were close but we didn't cut it. All was not for naught though, if we could hang out until 630, they were going to have a drawing for the over 100 people. They had the drawing, we didn't win but all the losers got a free calendar and a little cow plush. All in all I had Cort and I had a good time hanging out with each other but we came for the free food and we got our butts kicked. Eh...oh well...maybe next time.

that last post
I just had to comment on my last post, that post about the duck cake. Doesn't it look so good and so well-made? I must say, whoever was the fine craftsman who pieced that masterpiece did an excellent job. It didn't hurt that it tasted excellent too. I just wanted to take some time our and congradulate myself whomever made that cake. Fine job indeed...ahem...

The first day of school
Ashlynn starts her first day of official school ever today. Kindergarten will never be the same. She finished up her shots yesterday and got her school supplies the day before that so she's all ready to go. This is the first of many, many school days to come. She is so ready though, we know she'll have an awsome time.

Baby food is hazardous for your health
Cam's first taste of baby food (carrots) and he flips his meal into his eye.
Only Kens and Cam hgot shots today since apparently they were out of polio shots. That shipment comes in tomorrow. Ashie was a bit dissapointed at first because I think she was looking forward to just getting them done. Oh well. The babies did well with their shots. Cam didn't really even cry. Just fussed a little. Kenzie knew more of what was going on so she let her deep, lung scream roar to warn all other little kids in the peditrician's office. She calmed down after a while though and she did just fine. I was surprised at how well Cam handled his shots. Futher proving to me that men have a higher threshold for pain. That's right, I said it!
Rome, New York = Good times
Ashlynn had an awsome time in Rome, New York. Thanks to Nana and Grandpa for taking her and for Aunt Barb, Uncle Steve and their brood for showing our eldest a great time. I never though one could have so much fun, vacationing in the "armpit" (as dubbed by Tom) of America. The pictures that ashie took were awsome to see. She had a great time and that's always good to hear. Thanks again guys!
A perfect storm...
Ashlynn is gearing up for her first of many years in official public school. She beings kindergarden before the end of the month and that means (besides the splurging on supplies) that she needs to be updated on her shots. Not only her though. We I called the pediatrician to see how our other kids were doing on their shot records, it turns out, they all need shots! Yay! That means that at pretty much the same time, all three of them will be getting shots. Getting shots = crankiness and fusiness. We're going to have to be prepared. We've got popsicles in the freezer, fruit in the fridge (for kenzie) and a whole lot of patience stockpiled casue I know we're going to need it.

Ashlynn heads to New York
Well, Ashlynn left for New York today. My parents are taking her with them to visit my mother's brother and sister(s) in Rome New York. I took her over to my parent's house last night for her to stay the night since they had to leave early this morning to catch a 700am flight out of Denver International Airport. She was all ready and excited to go. When didn't really have too hard of a time saying by to her, neither Cortney or I, but we still felt a little saddened since this is the longest she'll be away from both of us. All I can think about is how this is how it all starts. She'll come back from New York all urbanized and hip. I fear she'll come back a clone of what I imagine little Dakota Fanning must be like. Demanding mocha frappachinos (no idea if that's a real drink or not), wearing sunglasses indoors (i think her future is bright enough to necessitate the constant wearing of shades, more aptly put, her's fututre's so bright she gots to wear shades!) and demanding we take her to a day spa so she can get some "me" time. This is how it all starts, they start taking trips, going to kindergarden and next thing you know she's off to college calling only to ask for money or when she needs to do some laundry. I'm only half joking, I'm stoked for her to go. She's going to have an awsome time. Lots of nice weather and good times are sure to be had, especially whereever swimming will take place. We sent her with a camera in hopes of her capturing some cool "from her perspective" pictures. I'll try to post them when she gets back next week.
Meanwhile, Kenzie and Cameron are none the wiser. Kenzie had a surprisingy easy (to me at least) time saying bye to Ashie when we dropped her off. We'll see how she deals the following days when she notices her big sis isn't around. Cameron doesn't mind as long as he can still put his foot in his mouth and grab Kenzie's hair. Ah, gotta love the home life. We miss you Ashie, hope you're having fun!

Kenzie thinks her brother is a stand up guy
allo muggels!
Long time no write! Just wanted to post some cool things that have happened recently. We had an awsome fourth of July and things have been going alright ever since. The 5th of July we went up to Woodland Park's Concert Above the Clouds and had a blast. We got up there 30-45 minutes before the fireworks started and still managed to get an awsome spot on the lawn. The Colorado Springs Philharmonic provided played ertremely well and the girls had a good time checking them out. We sat pretty close to where the fireworks were shot off from. It was cool to watch them shoot up and then rain down. Some sparks even made it all the way back down to the ground. Good times. We bundled the kids up since last year when we went, it was freezing cold. It wasn't too bad this year which made it even easier to enjoy.

Ashie new and improved!
Check out Ashie's new doo, we took her to get her hair cut shorter and didn't think it would come out this short! She looks so much older now, like 5 or 6 even. so much older. The new and improved Ashie comes with special sleep-fighting abilities including the power to stay up until after Mom and Dad are asleep. She even has the uncanny ability to make you think she in sincerely upset and her life is going to end when she doesn't get her wat. Tricky this new one is, very tricky.
Baseball practice
Kenzie doesn't really like to drive...
Ashie set to go pro
I think I've decied what Ashlynn is going to be when she grows up (because that's how it works doesn't it ;), first female MLB all-star. These are some pics of the playing around we did at Nana's and GrandPa's on father's day. It was such a nice day, hard to not spend it outside. Trying something new, here's a movie (avi) of Ashie knocking one out of the park
